A big Hi to you all for the start of this year 2015, we trust all went well for your Xmas and new-year festivities.
So!! What’s happening at Beker’s MCT for this year?

EUROPEAN TOURS:

The Euro is having a bit of a rest and so has let its guard down, in other words the Euro has devalued, so you folks from NZ, Aussie and USA can benefit from the much lower Euro and receive even better value from our European Tours this May/June 2015.

Europe is always on the move and is now changing quite rapidly again! (Just as it has always done throughout history)
Come this year and experience what all our return tour participants love so much about some of the world’s best riding and the amazing sights of Europe, whilst it is still just so easy too ‘country hop’ in such a relatively small area.
We well remember the strict border crossing days and although exciting, the crossings sure could cut into your day’s riding time, especially where we can go into 3 or more countries in just one day! The very old saying of “Just do it now” really applies to Europe more now than in the last 15 years or so.

Our “Great Kiwi Alps Tour 2015” is still requiring more numbers to be viable to run as of just now there is still time to contact us if you are interested and we can see if we can get enough tour members gathered up for this wonderful adventure of the German, Austrian, Italian, Swiss and a little of the Slovenian Alps to be a go for 2015.

USA TOUR:
The USA/Sturgis 75^th Anniversary Harley-Davidson® tour is gearing up nicely, this is going to be the “Grand-Daddy” of all Rallies/events, never before in the past anywhere in the world has there been such a number of motorcycles gathered in one area as will happen this year in Sturgis S.D. The real plus of this; is that even though there will be bikes and riders for miles it all works safely with extremely high fun zones for those that love to experience it all up close! Some like us just meander and soak up the sights with a cool drink or two.

New Zealand Tours
We have managed to have some great rides over the last month, now that the weather is behaving we really hope you all are managing some great riding or whatever you really enjoy doing the most!
Looking forward to New Zealand’s 1^st Harley-Davidson® Premier Event in Queenstown (our hometown) 20/21March, the IRON RUN, this is promising to be a real great gathering of perhaps a couple of thousand or so Harley’s® which should really make the hills come alive to the sound of V-Twin music.
You folk in the Northern hemisphere could start thinking about our New Zealand Authorized Harley® tours that start after our NZ winter from November, or you could still make it down for our “Deep South H-D® Tour 13^th---20^th March 2015, this one we experience Southern hospitality at its very best.

We trust everyone made it through our Down-Under Winter and your Northern Hemisphere summer OK and the weather allowed for you all to get a ride or two under your belts.
We are back in New Zealand now after a really enjoyable and challenge free European and American motorcycling season.
Summer is on the way Down-Under and our New Zealand riding season is just around the corner so time to uncover your ride of choice and think about the many and varied motorcycle rallies and events that are held throughout New Zealand in the next seven months, Euro or USA Folk could hop on down to NZ and join our Feb or March H-D tours.
Donna & I are especially looking forward to the 1^st Harley-Davidson® sponsored “Iron Run” Rally in Queenstown in March 2015, this promises to be a really great NZ H-D Dealer and HarleyDavidson® Australia backed event in an awesome area for Harley riding and with heaps of activities for any energetic thrill seekers. www.ironrun.co.nz

We believe this event would be a sight for all motorcyclists to see just how Harley riders really do enjoy a great laid back party weekend and it would be well worth a look-see regardless of the make of your current ride.

New Zealand Tours:

Northern Hemisphere Tours:
1^st 2015 tour is our May/June Italian Tuscany “Con Comodo”(which translates to be a ‘leisurely tour’) all those wonderful places you have heard of all your life are able to be visited on this trip, Trento, Pisa, Florence, Siena, Maranello, Venice and much, much more, this tour incorporates two and three night stopovers for relaxed touring and sightseeing.
2^nd 2015 tour is our popular June “Great Kiwi Alps Tour” taking in the best of the European Alps areas. This tour has been and will always remain a proven favourite for those that really like to ride a motorcycle on some of the most beautiful mountain roads on the planet, with a huge amount of differing road choices on offer, this area has something for everyone on any motorcycle model.
Please note! We are delighted that both these tours will have sufficient numbers too be able to run and we are once again looking forward to them.

3^rd 2015 tour is our USA/Sturgis month long Harley-Davidson® run, with the 75^thAnniversary of Sturgis Bike Week next year there is huge pressure on accommodation and increased costs (Although our cost to you is the same as this year) however there is also the once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a major gathering of hundreds of thousands of motorcycles in one area (Sturgis 75^th Bike Week Rally) this simply has to be experienced by oneself to fully understand what it is all about, all agree they are pleased that they experienced the famous Sturgis Rally at least once! After 2015 I would imagine the next biggy for Sturgis would be the 100^th Anniversary and if you are confident that you will still be riding and able to make it there in 25 years time then no problem, no rush then at all!

With this in mind we need any interested parties to contact us ASAP so we can ascertain possible tour numbers (we do require eight couples or more to run this tour) at this point we are hoping we can hold our prices at the same as we had advertised in October 2013: USD$7,875.00 per person, twin share, one bike (which is awesome value for such a high quality tour as some of our Hotels have increased their prices by up to 80% in the Montana, Wyoming & South Dakota areas) I must add this is normal practice when large events are held in the USA it is simply supply & demand in all the high use popular areas.
We have attended quite a few of these very large Anniversary events over many years, we have never been disappointed with any of them, they are truly an electric few days and a must see for all, simply a must do at least once in your motorcycling lifetime, we so enjoy them we just keep on adding them to our bucket list! (Then try and make them happen)

Overview of our 2014 Touring Season:
Our “Great Kiwi Alps Tour” and “French/Swiss Tours” were once again superb adventures with abundant amazing roads and unbeatable sights and vista’s, even though we encountered a few wet day’s at the end of our French/Swiss tour it did not stop our Euro riding fans from having a real blast! Once again, awesome people, perfect tours, great bikes. A big thanks to Andi and Holzleitner BMW & House of Flames Harley-Davidson® Munich.
We stopped off in London on the way to Munich and visited the real eye opening modern Harley-Davidson® International HQ offices in Oxford UK, we had a wonderful day there absorbed in everything Harley and met the very helpful and friendly crew from the Harley-Davidson® Authorized Tours Program, what a perfect way to kick off our European adventures 2014.Thanasis Paparnkis from Odyssey Motorcycle Tours Greece (www.motorcycle-tours.gr) made a huge effort on a very long ride to catch up with us all in Arabba in the Dolomites in Northern Italy for a lovely evening dinner and an informative meeting regarding tour possibilities and suggestions for May/June 2016, I can’t remember how many countries he Zapped through but after a wine or two it seemed like at least half of all Europe. Donna and tour members rode South a few hours with Thanasis the next day and waved him off after lunch as he set Thessaloniki in to his GPS and with his typical huge smile kicked his trusty well travelled G.S.1200 in to gear and headed home to his family, always a thrill to hear of his motorcycle adventures and future tour suggestions. Whilst we are talking things Greek we would like to send a huge thanks to Stergios & Apostolos Papagatsios and all at Kyano Tavern (http://www.kyano.eu/ ) for the best ever food and for everything that they have done for us since we first met in Munich over 5 years ago now.
USA and Sturgis was the next box to be ticked so we packed away the Euro bikes, handed back the H-D Ultra somewhat dirtier than I had picked it up, I ran out of time to clean it, or may be just a little to slack?
The Sturgis Deluxe Tour (Over one month and ten States) out of Seattle was just simply blessed with incredible weather, we managed to dodge all the Washington fires we did get real close in Leavenworth W.A. with raging fires only six miles from our Hotel at one point, so we were told. We just missed all the consecutive days of rain in Sturgis/Deadwood, all gone and cleared up on the day we arrived so lucky again indeed.
We then missed all the storms and flooding in Utah & Nevada, however we did see all the road damage as we rode many miles through some high passes and beautiful valleys, all in lovely fine calm weather.
And unbelievably we also skirted the extreme high temps as well, with very comfortable temperatures mostly averaging in the high 70’s and low 90’s (25c-34c) for the whole tour! However we do know this was a fluke and this was constantly pointed out to us all from the locals who just shook their heads and confirmed we were a lucky bunch of Harley riders and to enjoy the great weather we had been given to the max!
Donna and I would like to imagine this will be the same for our future USA/Sturgis Tours, but we probably wouldn't’ promise this, ‘Tis a motorcycle adventure after all and anything can happen in such a huge country whenever the weather is concerned’
Thanks to all the American riders that joined and rode with us all throughout the tour, this was a huge delight and for us Kiwi’s a little insight into the local American Biker, we believe it is just a huge thrill to meet and ride with the ‘people of the land’ sometimes it happens that one can ride through a country and only just meet the hotel/cafe/restaurant and service station staff and they are not always natives of that country as such, not saying there is anything wrong with these folks at all, but to ride with Americans in USA, Germans in Germany, Swiss in Switzerland, Greeks in Greece and so on is such a real buzz!
A special thanks to Brian & Val Bach whom were the backup crew and advisers on this tour.
They set the bench mark for customer service very, very high and spoiled everyone something wicked, we have no idea on how they could improve their service, perhaps coffee’s of choice delivered to all tour members on request each morning on waking? Nahh, too hard with the various sweetener additions, maybe turning down everyone’s beds at night? That could do it, please note! If this is to be introduced a word of warning! Please lock all mascots, stuffed animals, bike cling-on’s and the like in your safe, else they will go missing for sure if Brian’s around, he just loved misplacing those little stuffed critters, I guess the back-up crews have to make their own fun when confined in four wheels all day long.

We had the pleasure to join Dr Roy & Glenda Hammond from Learning Curves Motorcycle Dental Adventures on one of their “Smiles for Life” missions in The Dominican Republic for nine days at the completion of our USA Tour, we did our bit too help out Dr Roy and the other dentists, hygienists and camp setter-uppers.

A very enlightening experience and one that has shown us in parts, real poverty as we have never seen before. All of the 60 strong group worked incredibly hard in hot humid conditions and in some very sparsely populated areas.
Roy & Glenda are our m/c touring partners from time to time in New Zealand and Europe on their Dental/Business Continuing Education Harley-Davidson®
International Tours and next year’s Tuscany May/June Tour is our 5^th touring experience with them, we are so looking forward to it, they are a very well respected and well known C.E. H-D touring group.

BEKER'S NEW Zealand Autumn/Fall News Letter!

A big Hi out there to all in our very Hi-Tech world! We trust and hope life is really good for you.
As usual, lot’s been going on here in NZ! We have had a perfect riding summer, lots of Km’s on the Road Kings® and we have now achieved our goal that I was prattling on about in our last News Letter (Dec/Jan) we have been welcomed into the global network of the Harley-Davidson® Authorized Tours program.

This is the logo that we have worked very hard at getting and are now very proud to be displaying all over this new website.
Big deal we hear you say, well to us it is very big. To be one of only a very small hand picked select group of tour companies to be able to carry the H-D® Authorized Tours ‘banner’ is a huge delight and opens up for us limitless opportunity, whilst incorporating our long time most favoured ‘rides’, Yes Sir, bring on the future! (F.Y.I the approx number of active motorcycle tour companies throughout the world is 800-1000, the number of H-D® Authorized Tour companies, as of now! just 13 in total) and we managed to be the very 1st in NZ, Australia, Asia & the Pacific regions,Yep! we are darned pleased as punch! This does not mean we are disbanding the use of BMW’s in Europe, just adding more wonderful fun machines to the line-up. With the incredible advance in technology the last few years Harley-Davidson's® are taking Europe and ‘The Alps’ by storm and when in the hands of the locals and experienced riders the Harley’s® can crank along those little European twisty roads real nice and smooth.

Our awesome January 2014 Learning Curves Dental Adventures Tour was technically our 1st H-D® Authorized tour and it was just perfect, all the people were so much fun it should have been made illegal, even though we had very cool temp’s the Learning Curve participants enjoyed every second and created many laughs and joy where ever they went, these people sure know how to travel in style and hopefully some may join us on our Tuscany tour 2015 so we can pick up again where we left off (many thanks to Roy & Glenda)
Feb/March we ventured around the South Island again with another fine bunch of Yankee-Doodles whom were mainly here to celebrate wee Simone B’s birthday bash (heaps of you will know her person I am sure) can’t tell you her age, but I can tell you she sure ain’t a young ‘Gal’ any more, just kidding folks, I will promise to take on some counselling for that un-P-C, hurtful remark. A really great time had by all, and with no International incidents reported, things went very well with lots of bike trouble free km’s (we just pity the dismal wine stocks they left behind for the Kiwi’s that are left here in winter time)

In just a few weeks time we leave once again for Europe (The Great Kiwi Alps 2014 & French/Swiss Alps Tours, then followed by our H-D® USA: Seattle-Sturgis & Return Loop tour) one would have to be a really sad individual not to be real enthused at the fantastic opportunity of riding motorcycles on these incredibly amazing European and American roads, plus we get to escape our NZ winter. We have a great bunch lined up for these tours and we know they will have a blast!

An opportunity quite different (and far out of our normal comfort zones) has been presented to us by Roy Hammond (the founder of Learning Curves Dental Adventures and Smiles for Hope Foundation) and that is to participate in a group of Dental/ Medical volunteers offering Humanitarian work in The Dominican Republic, this September 2014.
The Smiles for Hope Foundation visits this country three times a year in cooperation with their partners at Esperanza International and perform all sorts of Dental care to various villages over an 8 to 10 day period, I may have put my foot in it when I told Roy “I should have been a Dentist, they get it easy” it was after he picked himself up off the floor after a real long laughing ‘fit’ he offered Donna a ‘one-time’ opportunity to join and help the 51 strong group from the USA & Canada so we could see with our own eyes for the first time in our 36 years of travelling, real poverty and how the much admired local population handle their daily challenges, he guarantees us we would never have had and will never have another experience like this, after our Google research and all the inoculation needles we think he may be right! (one more thing: they have Harley’s® there, in fact one of the 13 H-D® Authorized Tour Operators is from The Dominican Republic, so guess where I will be trying to sneak off to for a chat and a nose around?) The other great thing is we know some of the people that are volunteering their skills, at the same time. So we have others to ‘cling to’ when required (haven’t told them yet). We have only heard wonderful stories from those that have ‘Given their time’ in the past and they have nothing but the highest admiration for the peoples of The D.R.
We will keep you posted on our trip and will do our best to help out the team (I will especially try and stop Donna wondering off to some random shops/markets looking for new shoes or such like).

Now folks advert time! 2015 will be here before we know it! And for us 2015 looks very promising. We have sorted in Europe an awesome Tuscany, "Con Comodo" Italian experience that will be a real ‘cracka’, this has 2 & 3 nights stays in all the right places. Harley’s® and BMW’s available for this tour and it will book out for sure, so let us know if you could be a goer?
Then followed by the fantastic “Great Kiwi Alps 2015 Tour”.
After that we are USA bound for the 75Th Sturgis Bike week Tour, this is a 30 day wonder ride! Starting & finishing in lovely Seattle Washington. Riding on? Yes you guessed right! Harley-Davidson's®
Please Note: If you are of the type that doesn’t really want to enjoy one’s self beyond all expectation known to man/woman-kind then it may be possible to get other makes of ride but when in the USA why would you not give ‘em’ a go? On their home turf they are simply the best bike for the job.
